Hardee's - "A Little Magic" (Commercial, 1985)

Hardee's jammed a couple of stuffed toys in there meals. And if you were lucky you got Rudolf.




K-Mart - "Your Christmas Saving Place" (Commerical, 1980)

Kodak - "New Dad At Christmas" (Commercial, 1979)

Here's a holiday commercial for Kodak. Part of their 100-year anniversary series of ads: 1880-1980. The mother is played by actress Valerie Mahaffey. She won an Emmy Award for her work as Adam's wife on the TV show Northern Exposure.
 



Hickory Farms - "We've Done Your Christmas Shopping For You" (Commercial, 1985)

Here's a Christmas commercial for Hickory Farms. The slogan is "We've Done Your Christmas Shopping For You". Did they? Did they really? :)

More after school special fun with Scott Baio.

This is a blooper reel that was found from the TV movie "All the Kids Do It". You can hear Fonzi himself yelling directions behind the camera.

But what's really the kicker is hearing Chachi swear soo much between takes.

Scott Baio stars as Buff Saunders. I know right?! Buff Saunders?

Buff is a teen hockey player well-liked and respected among his coaches and teammates and he is an alcoholic.

He struggles to remain clean and sober in order not to lose his position on the team and the respect of his friends.

ABC Afterschool Specials | Like Totally 80s:
"The specials played out like mini soap operas for teenagers and as kooky as they could be some of them struck a chord and gave some good advice about important topics like drunk driving, divorce, bullying and drugs.

The series won over 50 Emmy Awards and ran for a whopping 25 years. Who knew?

They deserved the accolades and awards – thank you After school Specials for always knowing just the right thing to say, and for using Scott Baio several times to say it."

Steve McQueen's role as a rodeo rider. I feel like there were so many rodeo/cowboy films during this time including - The Honkers, J.W. Coop and When the Legends Die.

Need to try and figure out what started the whole trend sometime.

Junior Bonner: "Junior "JR" Bonner is a rodeo rider who is slightly "over the hill". Junior is first seen taping up his injuries after an unsuccessful ride on an ornery bull named Sunshine.

He returns home to Prescott, Arizona, for the Independence Day parade and rodeo. When he arrives, the Bonner family home is being bulldozed by his younger brother Curly, an entrepreneur and real-estate developer, in order to build ranch homes."

It was directed by Sam Peckinpah, who was known for the visually innovative and explicit depiction of action and violence as well as his revisionist approach to the Western genre.

Peckinpah's films generally deal with the conflict between values and ideals, and the corruption of violence in human society. He was given the nickname "Bloody Sam" owing to the violence in his films.

But this one was different. Peckinpah would remark,
"I made a film where nobody got shot and nobody went to see it."
At the time, The Wild Bunch,(controversial because of its graphic violence and its portrayal of crude men attempting to survive by any available means) was his most renowned film.

And Straw Dogs, one of his darkest and most psychologically disturbing films was in preparation to be released to theaters.

A note from the production of the movie:
According to Marshall Terrill's biography of Steve McQueen: "The closest McQueen ever got to a bull was one called Docile Sunshine, who was fun, playful, and even kid-friendly.

McQueen was not allowed to get near Evil Sunshine, who was the meanest, craziest, bull on the planet." As a prank between shots, McQueen thought it would be funny to release Evil Sunshine into the bull ring.

People climbed over each other to get out. The bull destroyed an expensive 35mm camera.

Uncle Croc's Block was a ferocious lampooning of other children's shows, with Charles Nelson Riley playing the disgruntled titular part, who hated his job as a children's show host.

Also featured were Alfie Wise as his sidekick Mr. Rabbit Ears and Jonathan Harris as the show's director Basil Bitterbottom.

Centered around skits were Uncle Croc and a wide variety of parodied characters such as Captain Klangeroo, Bogey Bear, Steve Exhaustion/The $6.95 Man and Captain Marbles, a play on Filmation's live action Shazam! series.


The very popular Evel Kneievel was also parodied. Koo-koo Kneivel was a wild puppet bird in a giant coo-coo clock, and would occasionally pop out of the clock to introduce a segment in bizarre fashion.

Between these live-action segments were three cartoon shorts: M-U-S-H (Mangy Unwanted Shabby Heroes), an obvious tongue-in-cheek canine version of M*A*S*H; Fraidy Cat a cat down to his last (of 9, of course!) lives; and Wacky and Packy (perhaps a titular allusion to Topps extremely poplular line of stickers), a prehistoric man and his pet pachyderm trapped in modern times.

Unfortunately for Filmation, the ratings were extremely low for Uncle Croc, despite its innovative format, and the series was cut down, then scrapped after a few brief months on the air.

In an attempt to attemtpt to save ratings, Filmation had planned to repackage the repeated Groovie Goolies episodes as a "new" segment, redubbed the "Super Fiends", but the show was shelved before the change could be incorporated.

The popularity of the Goolies and its wild, all out style might well have helped the sagging ratings. The animated segments were featured in the Filmation syndicated package, The Groovie Goolies and Friends, and would also resurface in the home video market in the 80s, but tragically none of the live-action segments have been re-aired or found to this date."
